The Pacific University men's tennis team extended its winning streak to five with a 7-2 win over Colorado College on Sunday at the Holce Tennis Courts in Forest Grove.
 
The Boxers (6-4) shuffled up its lineup but the team responded, noted head coach Brian Jackson. A sun splashed day in Forest Grove allowed the match to be played outdoors for the first time this spring. Jackson was pleased with how his team made the transition.

"We had one of our strongest doubles outing of the season," said Jackson after the Boxers swept all three doubles matches to begin the day and for the second-straight match. The doubles sweep gave the Boxers a dose of momentum as well as a cushion to give some experience to its depth in the lineup.
 
Junior Oscar Wight (Adelaide, Australia) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles for his fourth-straight win. Next, Josh Bernstein (Novato, California) was victorious 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Sage Katayama (pictured) (Mililani, Hawaii) was a 6-0, 4-6, 10-6 winner at No. 3 singles.
 
The other singles win for the Boxers was Sean Murphy (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) at No. 5 singles by a 6-3, 6-0 margin.

"We had great performances by our top two guys and Sean controlled his match from start to finish. It was a gutsy win by Sage, grabbing a tight three-setter," noted Jackson.
 
The Boxers will step away from the rigors of the Northwest Conference for its next three matches as they travel to the East Coast. The Boxers will face North Carolina Wesleyan on Sunday, Mar. 26 at 1 p.m. in Rocky Mount, N.C., followed by Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, Mar. 27 at 3 p.m. and Salisbury on Monday, Mar. 28 at 4 p.m. in Salisbury, Maryland.
