Box Score The Pacific University men's tennis team extended its winning streak to four with a 6-3 win over Linfield College on Saturday in McMinnville.
The Boxers (6-2, 4-1 NWC) won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches in the win.
In all six wins, Pacific has won at least two doubles matches. On Saturday, the Boxers started the day with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The duo at No. 2 of
Jonathan Chung and
Sage Katayama remained undefeated with an 8-3 win to improve to 4-0. The No. 3 team of
Sean Murphy and
Ford Nakagawa won by an identical 8-3 margin.
In singles play, senior
Oscar Wight was a quick 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 1 singles to lead the Boxers. Freshman
Jonathan Chung picked up his sixth-straight win with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. To clinch the match, the Boxers were victorious at No. 5 and 6 singles by
Sean Murphy and
Ford Nakagawa. Murphy was a 6-1, 6-1 winner to extend his winning streak to three and Nakagawa was a 6-3, 6-2 winner for his fourth win on the young season.
Next, the Boxers will travel to the Lone Star State for a four-match road trip during Spring Break. While in Texas, the Boxers will face nationally-ranked No. 15 Trinity (third in the West Region) and Southwestern, who is No. 8 in the latest West Region rankings. Plus, they will face Schreiner College in Kerrville and Colby in a neutral-site contest.
