Assistant Head Coach Ian Falconer, who has been with the Boxer football program since its return in 2010, will take over as head football coach at Pacific University at the end of the 2019 season. He will take the reins of the program from current coach and Assistant Athletic Director Keith Buckley, who is set to take over as the Director of Athletics following the 2019-2020 academic year upon the retirement of Ken Schumann.
 
"We are excited to have Ian Falconer take over leadership of the football program," said Schumann. "I am confident that Coach Falconer will continue with the success and strong culture in our football program that has been built over the years. I would also like to thank Keith Buckley for his outstanding leadership of the football program for the past 10 years since the program returned to Pacific, and I am excited for the future of Pacific Athletics as Keith transitions into his new role as director of Athletics."

Buckley added: "From the very beginning of Boxer football's return to Pacific, Coach Falconer has been my righthand man and a trusted advisor in building a program that the university community would be proud of on and off the field. I am excited to turn the program over to Ian and know that his drive, energy and proven recruiting success will positively push the football team forward into the future."
 
Falconer has been instrumental in the development of the program, serving key roles in developing recruiting strategies, game planning as the offensive line coach, and in strength and conditioning. His efforts have guided the Boxers to several school, game and season records. Plus, Falconer has been a top recruiter yielding student-athletes, who have excelled on and off the football field to the Forest Grove Campus.

Prior to his tenure at Pacific, Falconer gained experience as a member of the coaching staffs at Lewis & Clark College, Oberlin College and West Linn High School.

The Lake Oswego native is a graduate of Lakeridge High School. He went on to play collegiately and earn his bachelor's degree in social science from Portland State in 2000. At Portland State, he earned all-Big Sky Conference honors as an offensive lineman in his senior year. Falconer and his wife, Angel, have one daughter, Leta.
