A 12-2 run to start the second half and host Eastern Oregon outscored the Boxers, 70-45 en route to a 127-90 win on Saturday night in La Grande, Ore.
The Boxers (2-5) were led by a 17-point effort by
Marcus Wallace and 11 each from
Davis Holly and
Andrew Dufort (pictured) in the loss.
The Mountaineers (7-4) Max McCullough made 12 of 18 shots from the field, including 9-for-12 from beyond the 3-point line en route to a game-high 41 points. Four teammates joined him double figures including Jarek Schetzle (19), Landon Jones (16), Justin Jeske (12) and Jamal Heckard (11). Jones also had a game-high 13 rebounds for a double double effort.
Eastern Oregon stretched a two-point lead at halftime to double digits early in the second half with a 12-2 run for a 64-52 lead with 17:09 left to play. In the second 20 minutes, EOU shot 83.8% (31-for-37) from the field including five-for-six from beyond the three-point line.
The Boxers' Dufort hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to nine, 64-55, with 16:57 to go would be the closest that the visitors would get. Later in the half, over the next four-plus minutes, EOU put the game away with a decisive 19-2 run that put the Mountaineers' ahead 85-60 with 12:37 to go.
Before heading home for the holiday break, Pacific will host the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Stoller Center in its final non-conference game.
