Jacob DuVall and
Jenna Hoiland each set new Pacific University records to lead the Pacific University men's and women's track and field teams at the Willamette Invitational on Saturday.
DuVall recorded a throw of 160-3 (48.85m) in the discus, eclipsing his own school by three feet. The throw is the second best toss in NCAA Division III to date just ahead of teammate
Josh Huffman. Hoiland set a new mark in the triple jump with a leap of 38-11.5, breaking the 2009 mark of Risa Allen by 2.5 inches.
Also in the field events,
Keegan Jones broke the 43-feet mark in the triple jump to qualify for the Northwest Conference Championships. Jones recorded a jump of 43-0.5 (13.10m) to finish third. In the javelin,
Emily Sproul had one of the best throws in the nation to date. Sproul recorded a season-best and conference championship qualifying toss of 140-10 (40.96m). The toss is the third best in NCAA Division III for 2019 outdoor.
On the track,
Serena Wallace won the women's 5,000m run in a personal-best time of 17:51.97. The performance is the second fastest in NCAA Division III for the outdoor circuit in 2019. Plus,
Airel Farley lowered her season-best time in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing in 12:00.43 and
Riley Stewart improved on his season-best and conference-qualifying time in the 800m run (1:57.78). Plus, in the sprints,
Cole Strober lowered his season-best times in the 100m (11.16) and 200m (22.56).
