Box Score The Pacific University men's tennis team posted a 6-3 win over Chapman at Kramer Club in Rolling Hills Estates in Los Angeles to begin its five-match swing through California as part of Spring Break.
The Boxers (8-2) started the match, winning both at #2 doubles (Joey Hu/Reyn Miyagawa) and at #3 doubles (Sean Murphy/Jon Chung) by an 8-4 margin.
The Panthers (3-7) were victorious at #1 doubles, at #1 and at #2 singles.
Pacific got wins at #3, #4, #5 and #6 singles to secure the victory. Miyagawa raised his record to 11-3 with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #3 singles. Also, winning in straight sets was Joey Hu, who won 7-5, 6-3 at #5 singles. Plus, the Boxers' Jonathan Chung was a winner in three sets at #4 singles, coming back from a set down to win 1-6, 7-6 (10-2), 1-0 (10-7). Quentin Gonzalez (pictured) secured the win for the Boxers with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 win at #6 singles.
Boxers' head coach Pete Yellico indicated that the guys struggled a little bit with the heat and some windy conditions. "We played pretty good, overall. I felt we competed very well given the tough environment and happy that we came out on top."
Next, Pacific will face Biola University in La Mirada, California on Wednesday.
