The Pacific University men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Lewis & Clark Invite today. This was the Boxers' last meet of the season before the Northwest Conference Championships. Only a handful of the Boxers competed today, trying to get marks that meet the NWC qualifying standards. Five of the Boxers placed in the top-three in their events, and two Boxers –
Kristin Pilgrim and
Elijah Pine – secured NWC qualifying marks.
In the men's 100m dash,
Zach Withrow ran a PR of 11.42, placing sixth and just barley missing the NWC qualifying mark (11.41);
Cole Strober ran 11.29 for second place.
Also on the track,
Megan Eberhardt had a great day, winning the women's 400m with a season PR of 59.70.
Kristin Pilgrim had a huge season PR in the 800m, running to third place in a time of 2:25.07, which is good for a NWC qualifier.
In the field events,
Naomi Johnson was runner up in the women's discus with a season PR of 33.12m, and Rob Wood had a season PR in the men's long jump at 6.08m.
David Wright had a big PR in the men's hammer with 44.08m, good for third place, and
Elijah Pine trailed him in fifth, throwing a PR of 39.25m and qualifying for the NWC Championships.
Next up for the Boxers is the Northwest Conference Championship meet, April 26-27, at Pacific Lutheran University.
