NEWBERG, Ore.- The Pacific men's tennis team competed in the PNW Invitational hosted by George Fox over the weekend.
Joey Hu (Junior/Aiea, HI) and
Mason Tran (Freshman/Irvine,CA) stood out by winning their singles consolation draws and the duo of
Cooper Rich (Junior/McMinnville, OR) and
Matt Weiler (Junior/Dundee, OR) came out victorious in the B Doubles Consolation Draw.
The PNW Invitational featured multiple Division I programs including Idaho, Seattle University, and Portland State. Northwest Conference rivals George Fox also competed in the tournament.

Singles
Mason Tran dropped his opening match to Idaho's Bruno Casino but rallied to defeat Ting Hsu of Portland State and Rox Rogers of George Fox to land himself in the final round of the consolation draw. The freshman pulled out a three-set victory (7-6, 3-6, 10-) over Portland State's Nils Plulat to end his weekend with a solid win.
Nick Koulisis (Freshman/Baton Raton, FL) earned an impressive win (6-3, 6-1) over Seattle U's Lars Schmassmann in the opening round of the B Singles Draw.
Joey Hu fell to the number three seed in the B Singles Draw but made a fantastic run in the consolation draw. The junior defeated Vahag Pashayan and Ryan Olson of George Fox before taking down Schmassmann in the final (6-0, 4-6, 10-8) to cap a great weekend.
Doubles
The duo of Hu and
Koby Murata (Junior/Kaimuki, HI) defeated a Seattle U pair to reach the final of the consolation draw of the A Doubles bracket.
Reyn Miyagawa (Junior/Kaneohe, HI) and Tran also reached the final of the A Doubles bracket after defeating a doubles pair from Idaho.
Cooper Rich and
Matt Weiler battled to win their side of the bracket in the B Doubles Draw, picking up a win over a George Fox-Seattle U duo.

Pacific have wrapped up their fall schedule and will begin preparing for their spring season which begins on Feb. 18 at Portland State.
