After opening the season with non-conference a few weeks ago the Pacific men's tennis team hit the road to open Northwest Conference play against Pacific Lutheran and would dominate the day on the court claiming the 8-1 win. The win marks the tenth straight for the Boxers against the Lutes dating back to 2014.
Boxers opened the day by sweeping the doubles action winning all three doubles matches. The tandem of
Sean Murphy and
Quentin Gonzalez controlled their match claiming the 8-0 victory, while
Rayden Murata and
Koby Murata tallied an 8-2 win and the team of
Reyn Miyagawa and
Joey Hu won 8-3.
In singles competition Hu earned a 6-0, 6-0 win, while both
Joey Balleweg and and Murphy each won their singles match 6-1, 6-1. Miyagawa and
Garret Katayama were both victorious also for the Boxers claiming singles wins with a 6-1, 6-0 match score each. Gonzalez had a tough battle on his hands in singles action and fell in a 7-6, 2-6, 6-10 bout.
Jeff Kubota and
Rush Williams each competed for the Boxers on the day, also in singles action that was not scored for team scoring and they each earned a win. Kubota won 6-1, 6-2 and Williams earned a 6-0, 6-1 win.
The season continues for the Boxers next weekend March 13th and 14th when they face Lewis & Clark at home on Saturday for a Conference contest and then in Portland on Sunday for non-conference match.
