The Pacific University men's tennis team ended a 36-year losing streak on Saturday defeating Whitman College 6-3 in Forest Grove. The same teams faced off Sunday as well in a non-conference matchup with the Boxers winning by the same margin 6-3.

Pacific was able to get out to a lead early when they claimed 2 points in doubles play.
Rayden Murata and
Reyn Miyagawa came away with the first point at #2 doubles with an 8-3 victory.
Joey Hu and
Koby Murata were able to follow the game plan and claimed an 8-0 victory at #3 doubles.

Quentin Gonzalez was able to lead off singles play with a match that needed 3 sets to decide the final 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 victory for the Boxers.
Reyn Miyagawa was able to claim the victory at #2 singles following a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Sean Murphy was able to clinch the match's deciding point following a second set win in a tie breaker 6-4, 7-6 (5).
Joey Hu was able to claim another point for the Boxers following a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

The Boxers were able to record history with the win Saturday ending the 36-year losing streak to the Blues. Coach
Pete Yellico said following the victory, "I am so happy for our guys for battling through a tough match and securing the win. Whitman has been the team to beat for so long and I am so proud and thrilled to finally record a win over them. Kudos to
Sean Murphy for clinching, he came up big in the end. We knew it was not going to be easy and every match was tough out there today. The men fought hard from the first point to the last. All the hard work being put in at practice has proven to pay off. Whitman played a great match and season. We are looking forward to seeing them again in the conference tournament."

The Boxers will next play in the NWC Tournament against Whitman on May 7
th at 6 P.M. with the winner advancing to the finals.
