Boxers Secure Spot in NWC Postseason Tournament

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific University women's basketball team clinched a spot in the Northwest Conference Postseason Tournament with their 62-50 victory over Lewis & Clark.
 
The Boxers (16-6, 10-3 NWC) endured their worst shooting night of the season, posting a field-goal percentage below 30% in the first half. Pacific also shot below 20% from three-point range on the night.
 
The Pioneers (11-12, 6-8 NWC) also struggled shooting the basketball, going 21-of-54 (38.9%). Lewis & Clark also committed 20 turnovers and the Boxers were able to capitalize with 21 points off those mistakes. The hosts were led by Laurel Marchant who scored 13 points.
 
Sydney Gray (Junior/Central Point, OR) posted a career-high 22 points in an excellent performance from the junior. Gray was 4-of-9 from the beyond the arc and 8-of-15 from the floor to lead Pacific offensive. The Central Point native was all over the court, grabbing six rebounds while registering two blocks and two steals.
 
Camy Aguinaldo (Senior/Honolulu, HI) got off to a slow start but came back strong in the second half to finish with 22 points. The point guard pulled down a team-high seven rebounds while handing out four assists.
 
Brilie Kovaloff (Junior/Honolulu, HI) also found her way into double figures with 11 points to her name.

  • This was the third time this season Pacific has held their opponent to 50 points or fewer.
  • Pacific committed just eight turnovers while forcing 20 from their opponents.
 
 
Up Next
 
The Boxers will look for their fourth-straight win on Feb. 15 when they host George Fox in a rescheduled contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
