ORLANDO, Fla.- Mason Tran made history at the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships this weekend by becoming the first member of Pacific Men's Tennis to reach the semifinal round of the tournament.

Tran won his first three matches in straight sets, cruising to the final four with little trouble. The freshman picked up a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Rami Hemaidan of Coe College to advance to the round of 16. He followed with another convincing win to secure a spot in the quarterfinal, defeating No.8 seed Chase Cohen of Williams 6-3, 6-4.
This would allow Tran to advance to Saturday morning, where he took down the tournament's No. 3 seed, James Hopper of Case Western Reserve, 6-3, 6-3.
Tran fell in the semifinal round to No. 2 seed Stan Morris of Middlebury, concluding his fantastic run. He will earn All-American recognition after winning three matches at the national championships against the country's best competition. Tran becomes the first player in program history to be named an All-American.

Season Highlights
Tran was named Northwest Conference Freshman of the Year after his outstanding season to begin his collegiate career. He posted a singles record of 23-6 and finished the regular season ranked fifth in the west region. Tran also teamed up with
Reyn Miyagawa to conclude the season fifth in the regional doubles rankings.
