FOREST GROVE, Ore.- In a battle of two undefeated teams in conference play, the Pacific women's basketball team dropped their first conference game, 63-51 to Puget Sound Friday evening inside the Stoller Center.

Despite shooting 32% compared to the 38% from the Boxers, the Loggers were able to have a dominant fourth quarter to seal the victory.

- Brilie Kovaloff led the Boxers with 18 points including scoring her 1,000th career point in the contest.
- Rilee Price secured seven defensive rebounds in the contest.
- Sydney Gray played 38 minutes while going 4-4 from the free throw line.
How It Happened

The Boxers struggled throughout the first quarter shooting from the floor. The Loggers took advantage early jumping out to a 10-4 lead midway through the first quarter. The hosts, were able to stay in the game hitting multiple pairs of free throws down the stretch. At the end of the first quarter, the Loggers led 14-9.

Midway through the second quarter following a Gray layup, the Boxers had their first lead of the game which capped an 8-2 run to open the quarter. It was a battle all the way to the halftime break with neither team being able to capitalize on the others mistakes. When the teams headed for the locker room the Loggers held a 27-23 lead.

After trailing by six through the first four minutes of the third quarter, the Boxers got converted a layup and then had back-to-back stops on the defensive end to tie the game at 32 apiece. Yet again, both teams from their traded buckets which gave UPS a two-point lead headed to the final quarter.

With 6:46 remaining in the final quarter,
Emily Holsan made a layup in the paint to tie the game at 45 all. Unfortunately, that is last time the Boxers would be tied in the final 6 minutes as the Loggers closed out the contest on a 18-6 run to earn the 63-51 win and solo possession of first place in the NWC standings.
