FOREST GROVE, Ore.- Pacific women's basketball was defeated, 55-53 on Friday night inside the Stoller Center by George Fox.

  • Sydney Gray collected seven rebounds in the 33 minutes she played.
  • Emily Holsan recorded three steals on the defensive end.
How It Happened

It was a slow first quarter for both teams as play got underway inside the Stoller Center. The Bruins took a 4-2 lead with 8:31 remaining in the first. That was the last time either team would score until the 4:16 mark when they scored off a turnover on a fastbreak. The Boxers finally found their offensive footing scoring on four straight possessions to pull within one. The visitors however would score five unanswered points to close out the quarter with a 14-9 lead.

The second quarter was fairly even after the Bruins opened a seven-point lead; the Boxers put together a couple stops followed by buckets to tie the game a 20 with one minute before the intermission. Emily Holsan would convert a layup and the ensuing free throw to take a 23-22 lead at the end of the second quarter.

In the first five minutes of the third quarter, neither team could take advantage of the others mistakes as well as get a stop on the defensive end. With the Boxers trailing 32-29 with 2:13 remaining, Pacific began to catch fire from long range as they made three shots from behind the arc consecutively. Two of those came from the hand of Price which opened a 40-32 lead for Pacific at the end of the third.

George Fox however did not let the eight-point deficit bother them to start the final period as they were able to go on a 13-4 run and take a one-point lead with 2:18 left. With three seconds remaining, Price was able to shake loose of her defender and put up a contested jumper just inside the free throw line in which she drew the foul and headed to the line. After converting the backend of the pair of free throws to tie the game, George Fox was able to draw a foul of their own which sealed the 55-53 win.
