Boxers Leave McMinnville with Third Straight Conference Win

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Pacific women's basketball earned their third consecutive win with a 74-54 win over Linfield Saturday night in McMinnville.
 
The Boxers were able to establish control in the contest forcing 21 turnovers compared to the seven the Wildcats forced. The visitors also enjoyed a successful night from the free throw line going 6-7.
 
Top Performers
  • Rilee Price led all scorers with 19 points on 7-9 shooting from the floor.
  • Alexis Intong and Sydney Gray each collected six rebounds in the win.
  • Danica Schmidt made her presence known on the defensive end recording three blocks to go along with two steals.

How It Happened
 
The Boxers opened up the game in first two minutes on a 9-0 run. Pacific would stretch the lead to 12-2 following an offensive rebound and converted three-pointer from Gray. The Wildcats would respond with their own 12-2 run evening the game at 14 with 21 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Price would give the Boxers a 16-14 lead at the quarter break following a layup in the paint.
 
Pacific was the first to score in the second quarter with a Gray three-pointer which was her second of the game. The hosts would pull within three following a converted jump shot which is as tight they would get in the quarter. The Red and Black would go on a 15-4 run to close out the opening half with a score of 36-22.
 
Price would stretch the lead to 17 with a three-pointer on the first Boxer possession in the second half. It would take the Boxers until the 5:27 mark to miss their first shot of the second half. This perfect shooting to open the half led to the visitors stretching the lead to 21. At the under-five media timeout in the third quarter, the Boxers held a 58-33 lead. At the end of the third, the Boxers led 61-40.
 
At the under-five media timeout in the final quarter the Boxers had continued their dominance and held a 72-46 lead. It was all Boxers the rest of the way as they picked up their third straight conference win.
 
Up Next
 
Pacific returns to action the weekend of February 3rd with two games against Whitworth and Whitman. In the previous meetings this season the Boxers defeated Whitworth by a score of 53-43 and beat Whitman 58-53.
