TACOMA, Wash.- The Pacific University women's basketball team earned a win over #16 Puget Sound on Saturday to split the two-game season series.
The win on Saturday is the first Boxer win over a ranked opponent since February 5
th, 2016. The Boxers were able to solidify the win behind an efficient night from the floor shooting 51% from the floor while also shooting 43% from long range.

How It Happened
The Loggers opened up the contest converting their first two shots to jump out to a quick 5-0 lead. Pacific was able to respond with six unanswered points to take a one-point lead with 7:15 remaining in the first quarter. The two teams would be tied at 15 at the end of the first quarter.
In the opening four and a half minutes of the second quarter the two sides would play even. With the game tied at 20, the visiting Boxers would go on a 14-4 run over a four-minute stretch to take a 34-24 lead with 2:42 remaining in the quarter. At the halftime break the Boxers led 39-30.
The Red and Black were able to maintain a nine-point lead over the first five minutes and change of the second half. The Loggers however were not going to be put away as they closed their deficit to five with two minutes remaining.
Brilie Kovaloff was able to knock down two free throws with two seconds left in the quarter to take a 50-43 lead to the final quarter.
Pacific played the fourth quarter ready to close out the contest and not give the Loggers chance for a comeback. In the first minute of the quarter, the Boxers stretched the lead to double digits. From there, it was all Pacific as they never let the Loggers within seven on their way to the 73-62 win.

th with a 6 P.M. matchup against Pacific Lutheran. Prior to the game the Boxers will recognize their graduating seniors.
