Pacific showed Friday night that it will once again be a contender for the Northwest Conference women's basketball championship.
Behind 22 points from
Brilie Kovaloff, the Boxers defeated Puget Sound 55-44 inside the Stoller Center.
The game had seven ties and 10 lead changes.
Holding on to a 33-32 lead with 2:09 remaining in the third quarter, Pacific went on a 10-2 run to extend its advantage to nine points, 43-34, with 6:18 left to play.
The Loggers, who in the preseason were picked to win the NWC by the conference's coaches and entered the matchup 2-0, twice got within four points of Pacific in the fourth quarter but never any closer.
The Boxers finished the game strong, going on a 10-1 run to take a 13-point lead, 55-42, with 27 seconds remaining.
Pacific made 12 of 15 free throws.
Rilee Price finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Sydney Gray added four points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Next, the Boxers play at George Fox on Saturday at 4 p.m.
