Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Derek Wiley

Pacific falls to No. 15 Washington and Lee

Missing its leading scorer, sophomore guard Brookelynn Burke, with a concussion, Pacific battled one of the top women's basketball teams in Division III for three quarters.

But the Boxers could not overcome a slow start, falling 75-64 to No. 15 Washington and Lee Sunday inside the Stoller Center.

The Generals raced out to an 11-0 lead before Pacific freshman Jasmine Olivar knocked down a 3-pointer for the Boxers first basket of the game with 6:10 remaining in the first period.

The Boxers also had no answer for Washington and Lee junior Mary Schleusner. The 6-foot-1 post finished with 23 points and 28 rebounds to go along with five assists, three blocks and four steals.

The Generals outrebounded Pacific 57 to 32.

Shaade Williams had 18 points and four rebounds to lead the Boxers. Emily Holsan added 10 points, seven rebounds and six steals.

Next: Pacific hosts Santa Cruz on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 4 p.m.
