Turning up its defensive pressure, the Pacific women's basketball team battled back to get within five points midway through the fourth period.
But the Boxers ultimately could not overcome a cold shooting day, falling to visiting Pomona-Pitzer 61-57 Sunday afternoon in the Stoller Center.
Pacific shot 33.8 percent from the field and just 18.2 percent from 3 in the non-conference loss.Â
The Boxers raced out to a 9-3 lead and held a 14-12 advantage with 4:06 remaining in the first period. But Pomona-Pitzer went on an 8-0 run to take the lead for good. The Sagehens led by as many as 12 points before Pacific rallied in the fourth period.
Pacific senior
Shaade Williams had 15 points, four rebounds and two steals. Freshman
Karina Franco added 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Next: The Boxers host the University of Dallas on Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Ken Schumann Classic.Â
