The Pacific track team had two meets this past weekend, with both days seeing existing school records fall once again. On Saturday, all field events, 60-meter, and hurdle races were contested at the George Fox Tennis Center, with Ally Hammond breaking her existing 60 record. On Sunday, the Boxers went up to the Chiles Center in Portland to race distances from 200-meter to the mile. There, the brand new mixed 4x400 record that was set just two weeks ago was taken down.
Top Performers
On Saturday, the field event athletes started the day well with four finals appearances. There were three eighth place finishes with Senior Ryan Miller in the long jump (6.37), freshman Noah Tyrin in the weight throw (11.48), and junior Makayla Tuiolemotu in the weight throw (12.75). Tuiolemotu also took sixth in the shot put with a throw of 10.85. The day was then capped off with Mikell Adler's third place finish in the men's 60 hurdles with a time of 8.73, and Ally Hammond winning the women's 60m with a time of 7.73, a mark that betters her school record and puts her 23rd in the country for DIII.
On Sunday, the meet was much smaller than the last competition held here, but the Boxers came out just as hot. Junior
Charles Bennett and senior
Zion Booker went 2nd and 3rd in the men's 200m with times of 23.59 and 24.12 respectively, followed by senior
Angelica Gatica Gomez winning the 400m in a time of 60 seconds flat. Senior
Natalie Taylor also had a very strong showing, finishing 9th and setting a 12 second PR in the women's mile in a time of 5:17.87, after getting a 17 second PR the last time she ran the race. The weekend finished with more mixed 4x400m relays, Pacific's second time participating in the event. Two teams bested the previous school record, with sophomore
Kyle Woodcock, freshman
Ava Schreffler,
Zion Booker, and
Angelica Gatica Gomez taking the top spot with a time of 3:58.95.
