TACOMA, Wash. -- Down two goals early in the second period, the Pacific lacrosse team finished strong to defeat Pacific Lutheran 13-7 Wednesday afternoon.
Trailing 6-4 with 12:41 remaining, the Boxers scored two goals to enter halftime tied 6-6. Pacific then outscored the Lutes 7-1 in the second half.
Senior
Madison Boehringer scored the go-ahead goal just nine seconds into the third period.Â
Pacific's goals came from six different players. Sophomore
Jasmyn Zimmerman led the Boxers with four goals and three ground balls. Junior
Sarah Quade had three goals and four ground balls. Sophomore
Cameron Cabuco and freshman
Ellena Willingham each scored two goals in the win.
The Boxers took advantage of five Pacific Lutheran yellow cards and one green card to score four goals on power plays.Â
Freshman goalkeeper
Jocelyn Taylor recorded five saves.Â
Pacific, which broke a five-game losing streak, had 25 shots on goal.
Pacific Lutheran fell to 1-6 in its first lacrosse season while the Boxers improved to 2-5.Â
