SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pacific track and field team had a record-breaking day at the Inland Northwest Invitational on Saturday. Competing at the Podium, the Boxers had 21 All-Time Top Ten performances and even more personal records, all led by four school record-breaking Boxers.
Top Performers
The first record of the day to fall was the men's 60-meter hurdles, where sophomore Mikell Adler had an explosive preliminary round where he ran a time of 8.49 seconds. Adler went on to the finals where he finished fifth overall.
Next up was freshman
Cadence Schedlbauer in the women's pole vault where on her second attempt, she cleared 3.29m (10' 9.5"), breaking the previous record set in 2015. She finished the competition in fifth place with a final clearance of 3.44m (11' 3.5").
Later, senior
Ally Hammond added to her record total by racing the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.69. She finished fourth for the event, after already winning the 60-meter hurdles. She ran a time of 7.51 in the preliminary round, narrowly missing another school record by 0.02 seconds. Lastly, senior
Kamron Shields took to the track in the 200-meter run and took down the existing school record in a time of 22.21.
There were a total of 21 new Top Ten performances for the team, including
Dani Hammond tying for the second best mark in the high jump by clearing 1.57.
Nora Chennault and
Greta Koegler both landed with the third best times in school history for their events as well, with Chennault taking the No. 3 spot for both the 60 and 200-meter runs, and Koegler taking the third spot in the 60-meter hurdles.
"We couldn't have asked for a better day as a team," said head coach Ryan Huntersimms. "Having four school records set made it an outstanding day. We knew coming into the year that this was going to be a special group. All their hard work is showing, and we're excited to keep it rolling."
