ResultsFOREST GROVE, Ore. — Pacific had four individual winners in each gender but visiting Linfield took the team titles in a men's and women's dual swim meet at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center on Saturday morning.
The Wildcat women edged the Boxers, 100-86 and the Linfield men were also victorious, 127-69. The Linfield men are now 3-3 in dual meets, while Pacific drops to 1-5. For the women, the Boxers are still winless despite chasing the Wildcats close. Linfield is now 5-1 and tied for second in the Northwest Conference standings.
Ray Miller and
Jack Lloyd won two events each for the Boxer men. Lloyd captured the 50-yard freestyle (21.62) and the 100 free (47.88). Miller touched the wall first for Pacific in the 100-yard backstroke (56.26) and the 200 free (1:48.40).
The men's 500-yard freestyle provided the days top drama, when Linfields Juan Vidal (5:00.48) and Joshua Luffred (5:00.70) just nipped Pacific's
Charles Morse (5:00.74).
The Boxer women had individual winners in
Maya Okamura in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.62),
Colleen Murphy in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.66) and
Rachel Webster in the 500-yard freestyle (5:37.22).
The Pacific women's 200-yard freestyle relay team also defeated Linfield with a time of 1:47.58. That team was made up of Murphy,
Janae Sargent,
Kayla Knock and Webster. That time bettered the Boxer's season best to date of 1:48.55.
The Boxers will wrap up the regular season next Saturday (Jan. 30) with a dual meet against Lewis & Clark at home. The Northwest Conference Championships follow, February 12-14 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
