Federal Way, Wash. – There's a new leader in the women's standings as the Blues from Whitman (406.5) edge Linfield (338) entering the final day of the NWC Swimming Championships.
Whitman stayed consistent across all finals Saturday night at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The Blues medaled six times across six events but did not win any events.
The undefeated Whitworth (542) men extended their lead over Puget Sound (338). The Pirates won three of six events, grabbing 80 points for those three wins. Five additional medals extended their lead over the Loggers to 204 points.
In the men's 200-yard freestyle relay, Whitworth (1:22.53) continued to perform late race heroics when freshman Austin Elwyn overtook Puget Sound's (1:24.12) Emory Burden and Whitman's (1:25.8) Keenan Tiddle in the final 50 yards.
Whitworth looks to secure a team championship on the last day of the Northwest Conference Championships.
