ResultsFOREST GROVE, Ore. — Pacific's
Rachel Webster and
Jack Lloyd each won three events but the Boxers came up just short against Lewis & Clark in a men's and women's dual swim meet on Saturday afternoon at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center.
In the final home meet of the season, the Pioneers clipped the Boxers on the men's side 100-92 and L&C also edged the Pacific women, 123-82.
Webster won the 500-yard freestyle (5:35.79), the 200 butterfly (2:17.87) and the 200 IM (2:17.82). Her teammates also won the 4 x 400 relay (4:24.35), with the team of
Janae Sargent,
Kayla Knock,
Maya Okamura and
Meaghan Conway. Sargent was one of two seniors honored on the women's team on Senior Day. The other was
Katie Tougas.
Knock was also just edged in the 200 breaststroke. L&C's Libby Bissen won in 2:39.01 with Knock right behind her in 2:39.65.
For the men, the Boxers' lone senior Lloyd captured the 50 (21.49) and 100 freestyle (47.92) sprints, and he also anchored PU's 400 freestyle relay (3:20.15). For the senior from Portland (Wilson HS), it was a fitting end to his home career.
The Boxer men also got individual wins from
Raymond Miller in the 200 freestyle (1:49.16),
Michael Sakai in the 200 backstroke (2:35.00) and
Charles Morse in the 200 butterfly (2:02.65). It was Morse and Sakai's best times of the year in those events.
Miller also placed second in the 500 freestyle, just a breath behind the Pioneer's August Bergh. L&C's Bergh clocked in at 4:55.24 with Miller at 4:56.01. That was a swing of five points in the final team tally.
Pacific also won the 4 x 400 medley relay (3:57.97) with the squad of
Sanden Ballreich,
Derek Dunn, Sakai and
Dylan Cummings. The victorious medley relay team was made up of Ballreich, Dunn, Miller and Lloyd.
Both the Pioneer and Boxer men's teams finish the regular season with dual meet records of 1-6. The L&C women also have that same mark, while Pacific wraps up at 0-7.
The squads will now prep for the Northwest Conference championships, to be held at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash., February 12-14.
