TACOMA, Wash. — A pair of Pacific men picked up event victories on Friday evening, but the host Pacific Lutheran Lutes topped Pacific 143-60 on the men's side and 149-37 on the women's side at the PLU Pool.
Charles Morse (Forest Grove, Ore.) was the first Boxer to finish in the top-three on the evening, posting a 10:56.26 second place finish in the 1000-freestyle, followed by teammate
Michael Hernandez-Michalski (Salinas, Calif.) in third at 11:08.42.
Raymond Miller (Portland, Ore.) added nine points to the Pacific total with a first place finish in the 200-freestyle, finishing at 1:48.94.
Serita Solis (Poulsbo, Wash.) earned a third place finish on the women's side in the seventh event of the evening, the 50-freestyle, recording a time of 25.44. In the men's freestyle sprint,
Kevin Quan (Portland, Ore.) finished second at 22.19.
The Boxers' second event victory came in the 400-IM as
Michael Sakai (Honolulu, Hawaii) swam to a commanding victory at 4:28.49, winning the event by nearly five seconds.
Solis posted another third place finish in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:02.56, while
Rachel Webster (Normandy Park, Wash.) finished fourth at 1:02.58.
Miller and Sakai finished second and third, respectively, in the 100-butterfly. Miller notched a time of 54.67, while Sakai recorded a mark of 55.99.
Alissa Frazier (Oregon City, Ore.) made her dual debut in the 100-freestyle, finishing third at 55.72.
In the men's 100-backstroke,
Aukai Kea (Miliani, Hawaii) finished third with a time of 1:00.49.
Webster posted a third place finish in the women's 500-freestyle, finishing at 5:33.78, while Morse earned second place points for the men in the same event with a 5:10.18 mark.
Frazier continued the top-three finishes for Pacific with a 1:10.70 time in the 100-breaststroke, an event before Quan also finished third in the men's 100-breaststroke at 1:03.02.
Pacific finished the evening with a pair of second place finishes in the 200-freestyle relay. The women's team of
Callie Hinson (Salem, Ore.) Solis,
Colleen Murphy (Valdez, Alaska) and Frazier, finished the relay with a time of 1:45.62. The Boxers' men's relay team finished at 1:34.51, and was made up of
Derek Dunn (Springfield, Ore.), Sakai, Miller and Quan.
The Boxers remain in Tacoma on Saturday and are set to meet Puget Sound in a dual starting at 1 p.m.
