FOREST GROVE, Ore. — The Pacific swim teams closed out the dual season with a pair of losses to Lewis & Clark, despite individual victories by seniors
Raymond Miller and
Kayla Knock at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center.
The Boxer men fell 139-57, while the Pacific women dropped a 145-57 decision to the Pioneers.
The Pacific women opened the meet with a second place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, as the team of: freshman
Grace Connelly (Grants Pass, Ore.), Knock (Colorado Springs, Colo.), junior
Maya Okamura (Pukalani, Hawaii) and senior
Monica Krubeck (Brush Prairie, Wash.) finished with a time of 4:19.70. The men finished second at 3:45.62, with a team made up of: junior
Aukai Kea (Mililani, Hawaii), senior
Derek Dunn (Springfield, Ore.), senior
Michael Sakai (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Miller (Portland, Ore.).
Pacific freshman
Reed Charron (Fort Collins, Colo.) posted a third place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, with a time of 11:42.16.
Miller earned the Boxers' first win of the day with a 1:50.29 swim in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing over three seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Krubeck posted a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.55, while on the men's side Kea and Dunn finished second and third, respectively. Kea touched the wall at 22.91, while Dunn touched at 23.35.
Maya Okamura was second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.86, while Sakai swam to a time of 2:07.98 in the men's heat.
The 200-yard butterfly saw sophomore
Lauren McWilliams (Gilbert, Ariz.) finish third at 2:25.32, before Miller won the men's race at 2:01.45. Miller's 200-yard butterfly victory came by over eight seconds.
Knock notched a third place finish, at 1:00.82, in the 100-yard freestyle. The men's 100-yard freestyle saw Kea and Dunn finish second and third, respectively, with Kea clocking in at 50.82 and Dunn at 51.06.
Connelly and junior
Alex Winslow (Bend, Ore.) finished second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard backstroke. Connelly touched at 2:22.85, while Winslow reached the wall at 2:24.67. Senior
James Michael Sherman (Portland, Ore.) was second in the men's 200-yard backstroke at 2:21.33.
McWilliams was third in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:51.85, while senior
Michael Hernandez-Michalski (Salinas, Calif.) was second in the men's race at 5:26.54.
Knock earned the Boxer women an individual victory in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 2:34.82. Okamura glided in at third with a time of 2:36.42.
Pacific's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Connelly, freshman
Kimberly Garcia (Hacienda Heights, Calif.), senior
Colleen Murphy (Valdez, Alaska) and Krubeck finished second with a time of 3:57.07, while Pacific's men were third at 3:53.27. The Boxers' men's relay side was made up of: Charron, Hernandez-Michalski, senior
Alex Hallquist (Hillsboro, Ore.) and Sherman.
Prior to the first swim, Pacific recognized the senior class. The Pacific men's swimming seniors were: Dunn, Hallquist, Hernandez-Michalski,
Rayce Houser (John Day, Ore.), Sherman, Miller and Sakai. The Boxers' women's senior class was made up of:
Meaghan Conway (Reno, Nev.),
Elizabeth Cruz (Castro Valley, Calif.), Knock, Krubeck and Murphy.
The Boxers will next swim at the Northwest Conference Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. The NWC Championships begin at 10 a.m. on February 9.
