An early 6-0 deficit proved to be too steep of a deficit for the Pacific University women's lacrosse team, who dropped a 17-11 decision to host Willamette on Saturday in Salem.
The Boxers (2-2, 1-1 NWC) were led by a five-goal effort from
Roya Tahmassebi, who helped bring the visitors back.
The Bearcats (3-5, 1-2) picked up seven goals by Miranda Piros and six more from Anabel Ohsman, who led Willamette to its first Northwest Conference win in program history.
Following a 9-4 deficit at halftime, the host Bearcats added to their lead with three before a 5-1 spurt by the Boxers brought them as close as four, 13-9 when
Alexa Erickson converted a free-position shot with 17:26 left in the contest.
Three-straight goals by Willamette pushed the lead back to 16-9 over the next six minutes en route to the victory.
Next, Pacific will travel to Newberg to face George Fox on Sunday at 1 p.m.
