Four more school records fell at the SPU Final Qualifier meet held at University of Washington on Saturday.
The women's Distance Medley Relay was the first event on the track. The Boxers had two teams competing, both of which ran faster than the school record set in 2019. The team of
Kara Putman, Liz Bradley,
Kristin Pilgrim and
Eliza Irish took second place and ran a time of 12:57.83. The second women's team came in fourth place with a team of
Hannah Berdahl,
Ryanne Navarro,
Kristi Echiverri and
Maddy Hubbs (13:09.25). The men's DMR team of
Riley Stewart,
Grant Brobeck,
Garrett Stewart and
Nick Slenning followed to set another new record at 10:43.18.
Lexi Lowery ran a very quick 60mH race to take eight place and set a new record at 9.71.
Riley Stewart then ran a big PR and broke the school record in the men's mile, running 4:30.06 and taking eighth place.
Other noteworthy performances came from
Brooke France, who took fifth place in the women's weight throw to tie her PR of 15.70m, and
Kolby Nikolaisen, who was runner-up in the men's pole vault with his jump of 4.28m. The women's team also set multiple PRs in the mile race with
Kara Putman in 5:33.71,
Bethany Kalebaugh in 5:42.46, and
Morgan Henry in 5:54.92.
Nick Slenning also doubled back from the men's DMR to set a PR in the men's mile, running 4:36.08.
"This was a great meet for most of our athletes to finish the indoor season with," said Assistant Coach
Bailee Cofer. "It's been a fun series of races. I'm looking forward to seeing what outdoor has in store for this team."
The Boxers will compete in the first meet of the outdoor season at Linfield next Friday and Saturday.
