Pacific Grabs Third Consecutive Victory

A convincing win in four sets gives the Boxers their third straight conference victory

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific Volleyball picked up its third consecutive victory with an impressive four-set win over Lewis & Clark on Friday night.
 
The Boxers edged the first set and dominated the second set to take a commanding 2-0 before the Pioneers rallied late to take set three. In the fourth and final set, Pacific put together a late run to clinch the conference win.
 
Top Performers 
 
  • Alison Brown led the Boxers with 12 kills while hitting .229.
  • Mara Murphy enjoyed her most efficient performance of the season, posting a hitting percentage of .526 with 11 kills.
  • Lacy Churchfield notched her first career double-double with a team-high 26 digs to complement her 10 kills on the offensive end.
  • Shaianne Cambra racked up 42 assists in her double-double, registering 24 digs.
 
 
How It Happened
 
It was a hotly contested first set as the two teams traded points to start the match. Pacific raced to a 16-12 lead but L&C managed a four-point run to even things up. The Pioneers eventually gained the lead, forcing the Boxers to rally from behind. Forest Grove's team fought off four set points and used a kill and service ace from Churchfield to edge the 28-26 win in set one.
 
In the second set, Pacific trailed early but Brown slammed three straight kills to give her team a two-point advantage (9-7). A huge seven-point rally gave the hosts the momentum they needed to cruise to the 25-11 win.
 
The Boxers led early in the third, building a seven-point lead, set but the visitors battled back to take the set 25-23 to send the match to a fourth set.
 
Pacific stormed a 5-1 lead in the final set and Churchfield provided three consecutive services aces to cap off the match.
 
What It Means
 
The Boxers improve to 11-7 and 6-5 in NWC play. Pacific moves into a tie for fifth-place, just a half game behind fourth-place Willamette and one game behind George Fox and Puget Sound in second.
