NEWBERG, Ore.- The Pacific University men's and women's swimming teams competed in their first dual meets of the season on Friday night at George Fox. The Bruins came away victorious in both the men's and women's competitions.
The George Fox men won 170-22, using depth to its advantage. On the women's side, the Bruins just edged the 119-76 victory.
Top Performers
- Julie Abrigonde earned a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with her time of 2:10.98, good enough to grab three points for her team.
- Madelyn Russell posted a time of 2:47.40 to slip into second place in the 200-yard butterfly. She continued her great night by reaching the podium in the 200-yard IM, finishing with a third-place time of 2:32.28.
- Hannah Brandow won the 200-yard breaststroke with her time of 2:21.43 while freshman Jazmyn Capron-Graves gave the Boxers the one-two finish in the event, clocking in at 2:33.16.
- Anne Marie Grieder-Jacobs took the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle, earning nine points for Pacific with her time of 57.78. Allison Simon also finished on the podium by grabbing third in the event (59.60).
- Josh Joireman recorded a third-place time of 52.98 in the 100-yard freestyle.
What It Means
The Boxers suffer their first defeat of the season, looking to bounce back tomorrow morning.

Pacific will host Willamette for its first home meet of the season tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center.
