NEWBERG, Ore.- Pacific University lacrosse had a tough task heading to undefeated George Fox on Wednesday evening, and the Bruins showed their dominance with a convincing 18-1 victory.
Pacific falls to 2-11 overall and 0-9 in Northwest Conference play while George Fox retains their position atop the conference standings with a perfect 8-0 NWC record.
The unbeaten Bruins were led by Marena Tharpe on the offensive end, scoring five goals on her seven shots.
The Boxers' lone goal came from
Hyland Cullen-Musengo (Sophomore/Portland, OR) in the dying seconds of the contest. This was the sophomore's 25
th goal of the season.
How It Happened
George Fox came out on the front foot, scoring eight goals in the opening period to take a commanding lead.
Three more goals before the halftime whistle would allow the Bruins to cruise in the second half.
George Fox scored 17 unanswered goals until Cullen-Musengo came away with a successful draw control with less than 30 seconds remaining. She sprinted through on goal before unleashing a shot into the back of the net for Pacific's only goal of the game.
