FOREST GROVE, Ore.- Pacific University lacrosse found some success on the offensive end on Saturday afternoon at Hanson Stadium, but Linfield came away with the 18-7 victory
Pacific falls to 2-12 overall and 0-10 in Northwest Conference play while Linfield maintains their position in fourth place in the league standings.
Hyland Cullen-Musengo (Sophomore/Portland, OR) netted four goals to lead the Boxers and
Billie Merriam (Junior/Windsor, CO) also enjoyed a multi-goal game, scoring twice on the day.
How It Happened
The Wildcats opened the scoring less than a minute into the contest, but Cullen-Musengo replied by catching the goalkeeper off guard with her long-range attempt that found the back of the net, evening the score at 1-1.
Five consecutive goals from the visitors gave the hosts a commanding lead before Cullen-Musengo scored to end the Pacific scoring drought.
Sophia Alexander (Sophomore/Santa Barbara, CA) followed with a goal of her own, bringing the Boxers within three.
Linfield scored two more times before the end of the first period. Cullen-Musengo answered by opening with a goal just 12 seconds into the second quarter. She found the back of the net yet again to cut the deficit to four but the Wildcats went on to double their lead with four straight goals.
Linfield scored six goals in the second half to put the game out of reach. Merriam collected two goals in the final 30 minutes, but the Wildcats would cruise to victory.
