WALLA WALLA, Wash.- The Pacific University women's lacrosse team was unable to find their footing in their 21-2 defeat at the hands of Whitman.
How It Happened
The Boxers started off well in the beginning of the game when Billie Merriam (Junior/ Windsor, CO) scored the first goal of the contest to give the Boxers a 1-0 lead. This was her first goal of the year.
The Blues would take control of the game after the Merriam goal. Whitman would go on to score 17 straight goals taking a 16-point lead going into halftime. Four of those goals were scored by Gracie Maulik. Whitman kept their foot on the gas coming out to the second-half, pouring it on in the third quarter. Two more goals in the final period would put the game out of reach.
Boxers' defender Diane Crets (Sophomore/ Simi Valley, CA) would score the Boxers second and final goal of the day with 20 seconds remaining in the contest.
