FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific Women's Soccer hosted George Fox to open their Northwest Conference schedule, and the Bruins used two second-half goals to escape with the 2-0 victory on Wednesday night.
Pacific's defensive backline held strong for nearly 63 minutes but the visitors finally broke through after scrap in the penalty area. The Boxers were forced to open up in an effort to claw their way back into the game, but the Bruins doubled their advantage and walked away with the three points.

George Fox would dominate possession for most of the first half but Pacific would gain a foothold around the 20
th minute. The Boxers were dangerous on the counterattack, using the pace of
Emily Rutkowski and Santos on the flanks.
In the 38
th minute, Forest Grove's team earned a free kick from well outside the box and Santos tried her luck from distance, but her effort would clatter off the crossbar. This was Pacific's best chance of the night, and despite two more shots on goal from the Bruins in the dying minutes of the first half, the two teams would head into the break scoreless.
George Fox broke the deadlock in the 63
rd minute when Becca Kozak poked in a cross that found its way through a couple defenders. Less than 10 minutes later, Taylor Ho curled a shot into the top corner to double the Bruins' lead.
The Boxers were held in check for the remainder of the contest and the visitors would manage the 2-0 win on the road.
What It Means
George Fox earns all three points and ascends to the top of the NWC standings. Pacific drops their first game of the season and fall to 0-1 in conference play.
