FOREST GROVE, Ore.- The Pacific University lacrosse team had an excellent showing in a season opening win on Thursday over Multnomah.

The Boxers scored an impressive 16 goals in the contest on the 25 shots they fired toward the net.

- Amelia Haindl faced 11 shots on frame in the contest while recording seven saves.
- Hyland Cullen-Musengo had a very efficient night on the offensive end scoring a game-high six goals on seven total shots.
- Freshman Sarah Pokorny was a steady force on the offensive end for the Boxers scoring five goals

How It Happened
Â
The Boxers were able to establish control right from the opening draw. On the first possession for Pacific they were able to be awarded a free position shot in which
Devyn Davis was able to find the back of the net giving the Boxers a 1-0 lead just over two minutes into the contest.

Multnomah was able to tie the game at one a piece before the host would close out the opening quarter scoring four unanswered goals to establish a 5-1 lead.

The second quarter belonged to the Boxers on the offensive end as they were the only ones to find the back of the net. As the halftime buzzer sounded, Cullen-Musengo was able to find the back of the net for her fifth goal of the contest. When the teams took the halftime break the Boxers led 12-1.

Multnomah's defense began to strengthen in the third quarter as they held the Boxers scoreless for the first six minutes and change. At the end of the third quarter the Red and Black held a 14-2 lead.

The two teams would trade goals in the concluding quarter as Pacific picked up their first win on the season, 16-4.
