Box Score 2 Spokane, WA.- The Pacific University women's lacrosse team traveled to Spokane, WA to open up Northwest Conference play against Whitworth and Whitman. Despite both defeats, the Boxers would score ten goals on the weekend.
How It Happened
Game 1
The hosts scored two unanswered goals to open up the contest before Mia White split the deficit in half by netting her third goal of the season. The Pirates added four more before the Boxers would capitalize on a free position shot awarded to Cullen-Musengo who was able to find the back of the net to make the score, 2-6.
Whitworth would tack on another goal in the final minutes of the second quarter. The Boxers would respond early in the third quarter when Cullen-Musengo would draw a foul and finished off a free-position attempt. The Red and Black would find another in the fifth minute of the third quarter, when Cullen-Musengo received a pass from Davis and ripped a shot into the back of the net to make it, 4-7.
The fourth quarter would hold scoreless until the final five minutes when the Pirates would find back-to-back goals. Davis would find the Boxers one more goal in the final minute but the Pirates would take the game, 10-5.
Game 2
The Boxers would strike first after Alcaire would convert her free position shot in the opening minute of the first quarter. The Blues would quickly respond a minute later to tie up the game 1-1. Whitman would look to take control of the game scoring five more goals including one in the final three seconds of the opening quarter. The Blues would extend their lead to 10-1 before Cullen-Musengo fired a shot to end the second-quarter drought and got her name on the score sheet.
The Boxers would open up the scoring in the third quarter when Alcaire scored off of an assist from Pokorny. Whitman would respond ten seconds after with a goal of their own to make the score, 11-3. The Boxers would continue to fight as Davis would score following Cullen-Musengo's win on the draw. The Blues would score three more to close out the third quarter, 14-4.
Whitman would remain in control in the fourth scoring three more goals and holding the Boxers scoreless in the quarter until the final thirty-six seconds when Alcaire would capitalize off an assist from Snyder closing the game out, 5-17.
