Pacific scheduled Division II Saint Martin's to get a tough test outside of conference play.
Â
The Saints did not disappoint, winning 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-13) Tuesday night inside the Stoller Center.
Â
"They're a great team," Pacific head coach
Kip Yoshimura said. "They're having a good season. It was fun to play. They hit the ball hard. They jump high. They serve tough and we need more of that. And I'm sure we'll see it at conference time. But it was a good experience overall."
Â
Saint Martin's raced out to a 15-2 lead in the first set before the Boxers battled back to get within 22-11.
Â
The second set was much closer with Pacific leading 19-18 before the Saints went on a 7-0 run.Â
Â
Saint Martin's jumped out to another big lead in the third set to finish off the Boxers.
Â
"We tried a few different lineups, which is nice to do, not having to wait until conference matches to kind of experiment," Yoshimura said. "We got to work out some playing time and see what we need to work on the rest of the week and the rest of the season."
Â
Pacific junior
Danica Nelson finished with 20 digs and three aces. Junior
Deborah Chun had seven kills. Junior
Victoria Patnaude added three blocks.Â
Â
The Boxers are back home Friday for a Northwest Conference match against Whitworth at 7 p.m.
