The Pacific women's basketball team opened Northwest Conference play Friday night inside the Stoller Center with a 73-54 loss to Linfield.
The Boxers, who fell behind 9-0, did not score their first basket until 5:52 remaining in the first quarter on a
Lindsay Barden jump shot.
The Wildcats, who entered the game with an undefeated 9-0 record, led 22-7 at the end of the first period and 47-26 at halftime.
Pacific shot just 31.9 percent from the field, compared to 54.7 percent from Linfield.
The Boxers, who already entered the matchup with a distinct size disadvantage, were without 5-foot-11 junior
Ava Cook, who was unavailable due to an injury.
The Wildcats took advantage, outrebounding Pacific 41-30. Linfield 6-foot-2 senior Gillyan Landis had 21 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Miki Vermeulen, a 5-10 junior, added 17 points and six rebounds.
Barden finished with nine points, four rebounds and four assists to lead Pacific.
The Boxers had won six straight against Linfield with the last loss coming in the spring of 2021.
