Three Boxers place fourth at Spokane Open

SPOKANE, Wash. – Three Pacific women's wrestlers placed fourth at the Spokane Open on Sunday – freshman Taylen Babas-Masuno (110), junior Audrey Diaz (138) and senior Makaila Takahashi (160).

Returning from a knee injury, Takahashi won her first two matches by fall. After getting pinned by the eventual 160-pound champion, Hailey Sutton, in the semifinals, Takahashi regrouped and won by fall in the consolation semifinals. The Pacific senior was then pinned in the third-place match to finish the day 3-2.

Diaz took the longer route to the third-place match. After getting pinned in round two, Diaz won five straight matches, including three by tech fall, to remain in the tournament.

Babas-Masuno also had to battle through the consolation bracket, winning three straight matches by fall before getting pinned in the third-place match.

Freshmen Hailey Miller (138) and Miah Cook (160) also recorded multiple wins in the Spokane Open.

Next: Pacific will wrestle at Treasure Valley Community College on Saturday, Dec. 13.
