The Pacific lacrosse team got the Wildcat off its back.
For the first time since 2017, the Boxers defeated Linfield 10-8 on Saturday afternoon, snapping a 14-game losing streak to their Northwest Conference rival.
Playing its first home match of the season, Pacific jumped out to a 6-2 lead at halftime. But the Wildcats did not go away quietly, twice pulling within a single goal at 8-7 and again at 9-8. Jasmyn Zimmerman finally put Linfield away, scoring an insurance goal with 44 seconds remaining.
Zimmerman was one of five Pacific players to score. Ellena Willingham led the Boxers with four goals, while Sarah Quade added three. Erin Casey and India Cartwright also scored in the victory. Casey added eight ground balls.
Pacific goalkeeper Jocelyn Taylor recorded five saves.
