The Pacific women's lacrosse team is off to its best start in 10 years.
The Boxers dominated visiting Pacific Lutheran 17-0 Sunday afternoon to improve to 3-1, their best record after four matches since 2016. The 17-goal margin of victory is the largest since Pacific defeated Puget Sound 18-1 in 2017.
After leading just 1-0 for much of the first period, Jasmyn Zimmerman scored on an assist from India Cartwright with 26 seconds remaining to give Pacific a 2-0 advantage. The Boxers then caught fire in the second period, scoring eight goals to take a commanding 10-0 lead into halftime.
With a running clock for the entire second half, Pacific added three goals in the third period and four more in the fourth.
The Boxers finished with 20 shots on goal to Pacific Lutheran's one.
Freshman Erin Casey led Pacific on offense and defense, finishing with four goals, five caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Zimmerman also scored four goals in the win.
Cartwright and Cameron Cabuco each had three goals and three assists. Ellena Willingham filled up the stat sheet with two goals, two assists, three caused turnovers, three ground balls and six draw controls.
Pacific goalie Jocelyn Taylor made one save to preserve the first shutout in the program's history, dating back to 2007.Â
