On a wet and windy Wednesday night at Hanson Stadium, the Pacific women's lacrosse team heated up in the third quarter, scoring five goals to tie Aurora. But the Boxes ultimately couldn't keep up, falling 11-9.
The visiting Spartans got off to a fast start, taking a 5-1 lead after the first period. But Pacific freshman
Erin Casey gave the Boxers some momentum late in the second quarter, scoring with 40 seconds remaining to get the home team within 6-3 at intermission.
Pacific scored twice in the first two minutes of the second half to get within 6-5. Taking advantage of an Aurora green card,
India Cartwright then tied the game at 8-8 on an assist from
Sarah Quade with 7:36 remaining in the third quarter.
But Aurora scored three straight goals to put the game away.
Ellena Willingham led Pacific's attack with three goals, three draw controls and two ground balls. Cartwright and Quade each had two goals and an assist. Casey also scored two goals.
Next: The Boxers (3-2) host Puget Sound (3-2) on Thursday, March 19.
