Spencer again highlights Boxer running efforts

RESULTS

SALEM, Ore. — Stephenie Spencer placed 15th in a loaded field to highlight Pacific University efforts at the 41st annual Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational on Saturday morning at Bush Pasture Park in Salem.

Spencer ran the challenging five kilometer course in 18:13, finishing in the upper crust of the 186 runners in the Woman's Cardinal 5K. Portland State's Amanda Boman won the race in 17:30, helping her Viking team win the team title with 75 points. The University of Portland was next with 100 points even.

The Boxer women finished in 15th place overall.

On the men's side in the Cardinal 8K, Stephen Allen was Pacific's top runner in 41st place. He checked in at 26:25, with Logan Naegeli the next Boxer across the line in 75th at 27:14. There were 143 total runners in the race. The Boxers finished 14th overall.

Humboldt State won the team title with 43 points, with host Willamette next at 69. Former Boxer Tyler Shipley won the individual race by over 30 seconds in a sizzling time of 24:33. Shipley, a Forest Grove native, now runs for Puget Sound.

The Boxers will race again next Saturday at the George Fox Invitational. Start time will be 10 a.m. at the Willamette Mission State Park in Brooks.
