Boxer runners have record-setting day at Charles Bowles Invite

SALEM -- Records are meant to be broken and that was certainly the case Saturday morning at the Charles Bowles Invite.

Running at Bush's Pasture Park, the Pacific women's and men's cross country teams combined for 16 personal records and seven season bests.

Graduate student Dina Altuhovs led the Boxer women with a new PR of 18 minutes, 44.90 seconds in the 5K. Freshman Ali Heinly ran a PR of 19:00.50 and senior Megan Feitz recorded a season best of 19:01.70.

The Pacific women finished 12th out of 27 teams. Division I programs UC Santa Barbara, Portland, Hawaii, Idaho and Nevada took the top five spots.

Senior Henry Tierney and sophomore Peyton Fisher paced the Pacific men's team, finishing the 8K in 25:52.14 and 25:52.35, respectively, both personal records.

The Boxer men finished 20th out of 30 teams with Portland, Idaho and UC Santa Barbara placing in the top three positions.

Next: Pacific will compete in the George Oja Invitational in McMinnville on Saturday, Oct. 18.
