ResultsMcMINNVILLE, Ore. — The Pacific women's track and field team did more than break some ice at the 2016 outdoor opener, they also chiseled in a number of school Top 10 marks at the Linfield Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker on Saturday.
In all, unofficially 12 marks will have to be written into Pacific's all-time Top 10 as the Boxers sent a large women's group to the meet. Not as many men competed in this, the first outdoor meet of the year.
Kelsey Lee was Pacific's only winner on the day, claiming the 400 hurdle race with a time of 1:04.58--a personal best for her and the third fastest time ever in that race at Pacific.
The Boxer 4 x 400 relay team crossed the line second out of 13 small college teams with a time of 4:05.28, which is second all-time at PU. That speedy team consisted of
Megan Eberhardt,
Breezy Brookbank, Jessica Knoll and
Marissa Smith.
Brookbank and Smith also clocked solid times in the 200 meters, with Brookbank now third all-time (26.40) and Smith fifth (26.71). Eberhardt finished third in the 400 meters (1:01.29, fifth all-time) and Knoll was third in the 800 in 2:22.92, sixth best at Pacific.
Mikaela Bernards ran 16.35 in the 100 hurdles (5th all-time) and on Friday night
Stephenie Spencer ran her best in the 10,000 meters in 38:33.34. That placed her sixth overall in the race and she was the third collegian to cross the finish line. That mark is fourth all-time at PU.
The 4 x 100 relay team of Brookbank, Bernards, Ary'l Burgoyne and Smith clocked 49.73, third in the race and fourth fastest Boxer time. In the field events, Diana Church was third of 32 competitors in the shot put at 37-11 1/2 and
Mackenzie Huddleston was sixth in the hammer with a heave of 130-2, third all-time on Pacific's list.
Emily Sproul was third (133-11) and Huddleston fourth (131-7) in the javelin.
Next up for the Boxers will the Pacific Preview, next Saturday (March 12) at Hanson Stadium. Start time is 9 a.m.
