McMinnville, Ore. – Brooke France can't be stopped. The Boxer set yet another school record this weekend at the Linfield Icebreaker, the first outdoor meet of the season. France won the hammer throw by over seven feet with her mark of 51.75m, breaking the old record by over ten feet. France also took second place in the discus (37.01m).
Also throwing far in the hammer was
Emily DeYoung, taking fifth place with her PR of 38.85m, placing her on the Pacific Outdoor Top Ten school history performance list. DeYoung also was runner-up in the shot put with her toss of 11.42m. Jacob Duvall won the men's hammer throw (47.56m), and his teammate
Andrew Reid followed for fourth place (42.61m). Duvall also took second place in the discus with his throw of 45.09m.
On Friday night,
Riley Stewart was the first Boxer to compete in the meet, running to a 12th place finish in the men's 10k (32:44.31) and qualifying for the NWC championships.
On the runway Saturday morning,
Jenna Hoiland easily won the women's triple jump by over a foot with her jump of 11.12m. She will compete in the Division III NCAA Indoor National Championships next weekend in the women's triple jump.
Also jumping well were
Kolby Nikolaisen, winning the pole vault (4.25m), and
Sophia Henke, tying for second place in the high jump with her leap of 1.50m.
On the track, the women's 4x400m relay team of
Alexa Smith,
Kristin Pilgrim,
Audrey Lincoln and Liz Bradley won the race with a time of 4:16.51.
Ryanne Navarro was runner up in the women's open 400m with a PR of 1:01.39, placing her on the Top Ten list.
Audrey Lincoln also ran to a second place finish (1:08.04) in the 400m hurdles before helping out the champion 4x400m relay team.
Several Boxers toed the line in the women's 1500m.
Eliza Irish ran a quick PR of 5:02.81 for fifth place, just a half-second off the NWC qualifying standard. Teammates
Maddy Hubbs and Liz Bradley followed close behind for big PRs of 5:09.38 and 5:13.22, respectively.
Berdahl and Irish doubled back to run the women's 5k at the end of the meet. Irish ran another big PR of 18:48.92 for third place, and landed herself on the Top Ten list. Berdahl finished right behind in fifth with 19:06.23 – both women qualified for the NWC Championships out of this race. Freshman
Bethany Kalebaugh also opened up with a fast 5k debut, taking eighth place and running a time of 19:45.87.
In the women's 800m,
Kristin Pilgrim took third place (2:27.15) and was less than a second out of qualifying for the NWCs. Right after her,
Garrett Stewart won the men's 800m and qualified for the NWCs (1:59.54).
"The teams have carried their positive momentum into the outdoor season," assistant coach

Jenna Hoiland to compete in the NCAA Championships this coming weekend."
The Boxers will compete next at their first home meet of the season, the Pacific Preview, on March 14.
