After a solid start to the outdoor track and field season last week at home the Pacific track athletes headed to McMinnville and competed against Linfield in a dual meet and put together some strong performances, including multiple Northwest Conference qualifying marks.
Pacing the women's performances on the day was a pair of first place finishes for Helena Guerrero-Sullivan who raced her way to first place in the 1500 meter run (4:52.77) and 800 meter run (2:24.39). Her time in the 800 meter run qualified her for Conference. Also on the the trio of Kara Putnam,
Eliza Irish, and
Annie Berry finished second (4:53.95), third (4:57.12), and fourth (5:00.53), respectively in the 1500 meter run behind Guerrero-Sullivan and all qualified for Conference.
Also on the track for the women
Alexis Lowery won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.16, while in the field events
Brooke France won the discus (36.98m), javelin (39.71m), and hammer (43.59m).
Emily DeYoung took home first place in the shot put with a toss of 11.70m and Jenna Holland won the triple jump with a leap of 10.86m.
For the men a time of 4:03.28 in the 1500 meter run earned
Riley Stewart first place and qualified him for Conference, while he also qualified for Conference in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:01.64.
Nick Slenning qualified for Conference with Stewart in the 1500 meter run after posting a time of 4:03.99. Also on the track
Garrett Stewart won the 800 meter run (2:01.32) and
Brian Tinoco took first in the 400 meter run (53.38).
In the field events for the Boxers it was a first place showing for Jacob Duvall in the discus (47.18m) and also first place for
Andrew Reid in the hammer (45.33m).
Kolby Nikolaisen earned first place in the pole vault with a vault of 4.10m.
Track season rolls along for the Boxers over the next few weekends as the Boxers will compete at Lewis & Clark on Saturday, March 20th but only the steeplechase and then back to full meet action on Tuesday, March 23rd at Western Oregon University.
