PORTLAND, Ore. – The Boxer men and women's track teams competed in the Portland Indoor #1 track meet at the University of Portland on Sunday, January 22, 2023. There were eight athletes and two relay teams that moved up on the Pacific All-Time Indoor Top Ten List, and three Boxers placed in the top three in their event.
Top Performers
Three Boxers placed in the top three of their event at the Portland Indoor meet. Angelica Gatica-Gomez took third place in the women's 200m dash with a time of 27.12. Emily Rutkowski took third in the women's 400m dash with her time of 1:02.85. Garrett Stewart took third in the men's 800m with his time of 2:00.65. There were also 10 movement on the Indoor Top Ten List for the Boxers:
Men's 200m
Zion Booker moved to #7 with his time of 23.70.
Lucas Dahl moved to #10 with his time of 23.86.
Women's 200m
Angelica Gatica-Gomez moved to #2 with her time of 27.12.
Ally Hammond moved to #8 with her time of 27.84.
Men's Mile
Henry Tierney moved to #7 with his time of 4:34.65.
Women's Mile
Abby Klein moved to #4 with her time of 5:27.10.
Liz Bradley moved to #6 with her time of 5:34.74.
Cris Brethower moved to #9 with her time of 5:40.00.
Men's 4x400m Relay
The team of Yee, Pruitt, Heinze and Shields moved to #8 with their time of 3:48.41.
Women's 4x400m Relay
The team of Gatica-Gomez, Altuhovs, Teirnan and Rutkowski moved to #5 with their time of 4:19.63.
What It Means
This was a good first meet for the Boxers. They will use the indoor season to gain new PRs, move up the Top Ten List and chase after school records as they prepare for the outdoor season.
Up Next
The Boxers will compete again on Sunday, February 5, with the 200m and longer events competing at University of Portland, and the short sprints, hurdles and field events competing at George Fox University.
