NEWBERG and PORTLAND, Ore. – The Boxer men and women's track teams competed in the Portland Indoor #2 track meet at the University of Portland and George Fox University on Sunday, February 5, 2023. The running events of 200m and longer were contested at University of Portland, and the hurdles, running events less than 200m and all field events were contested at George Fox University. Two school records were broken at this meet. First, Ally Hammond broke the women's indoor 60m record with her time of 8.09, good for fourth place. Then Angelica Gatica-Gomez broke the women's indoor 400m record with her time of 60.31, good for second place.
Top Performers
Angelica Gatica-Gomez and Ally Hammond were the top performers for the Boxers this weekend, as both women broke a school record. Including Gatica-Gomez's performance, there were four top-three performances for the Boxers this weekend. Angelica Gatica-Gomez took second place in the women's 400m dash with a time of 60.31. Cris Brethower took third place in the women's 3,000m run, winning her heat in a time of 10:58.31, moving her up to #9 on the Indoor Top Ten list. Andrew Reid took second in the men's weight throw with his mark of 15.01m, and third in the men's shot put with his mark of 14.37m. Reid's shot put mark moves him up the Top Ten list. In fact, there were 25 movements on the Indoor Top Ten List for the Boxers this weekend:
